About This Show

Armstrong Station, by Mark Larsen (book and lyrics) and Tom Shaw (music), is set in San Francisco’s Castro District in 1981, on the eve of the AIDS crisis. A song-driven memory play, it follows a group of friends navigating love, ambition, and community at a pivotal moment in the neighborhood’s history. The songs themselves are authentic artifacts, written by the two collaborators in 1981–83 and now woven into a theatrical narrative that revisits the lives, relationships, and chosen family of a community on the cusp of profound, unforeseen change.
