Douglas Waterbury-Tieman is an actor, musician and writer originally from Lexington, KY. He received his BM in Musical Theatre at Belmont University. Performance Credits include: Off-Broadway; The Robber Bridegroom, Soot and Spit. Regional; Waitress, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, 9 to 5, Once, Cotton Patch Gospel, Fiddler on the Roof. TV; Succession. Fiddle: Clint Black’s Looking for Christmas, The Disney Magic cruise ship, The General Jackson Showboat. Founding member of the NYC based theatrical band The Lobbyists, whose Off-Broadway production Seawife was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Best Music and appeared in the 2019 National Alliance of Musical Theatre Festival. Featured at Goodspeed's Festival of New Musicals in 2019 as a recipient of the Frank Young Fund grant for his musical Johnny & The Devil’s Box, which received an award winning run at the Cumberland Co. Playhouse in 2022. Book writer; Deep Water Ballad featured at Elon University in April 2023 and Jenny and the Paper Pirates commissioned by The American School in Switzerland, both with composer Chris Rayis. He is the founder of New Musical Theatre Nashville, an organization that supports the creation of new musicals. He currently lives in Franklin, TN with his wife/collaborator/co-star Annabelle, four year old Oliver, baby Hugo and golden doodle Dandy.
